Credit Analyst – Commercial Business LendingA bit about us:Our client is a growing commercial lender in Los Angeles that serves small and mid-sized businesses and commercial real estate investors. They're adding a Credit Analyst to their credit team to support underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and loan committee decisions across a growing pipeline.

- Underwrite new commercial loan requests by spreading business and personal financial statements and tax returns, and analyzing global cash flow, DSCR, leverage, liquidity, and collateral coverage
- Write clear credit memoranda that evaluate repayment capacity, risk factors, and mitigants, with recommended structure and risk ratings for loan committee
- Build and maintain Excel financial models and loan sizers, including projections, stress testing, and sensitivity analysis to quantify downside risk
- Evaluate CRE and owner-occupied collateral using appraisals, comparable sales, and market data to support LTV and collateral analysis
- Monitor an assigned loan portfolio through annual reviews, covenant compliance checks, and risk rating updates, and flag early signs of credit deterioration
- Make sure loans meet internal credit policy and documentation requirements, working alongside the lending, closing, and servicing teams
- Prepare portfolio and concentration reporting for senior management and the board, and help automate recurring reports where possible
- Work with loan officers, borrowers, and third parties (appraisers, CPAs, attorneys) to gather due diligence and resolve open credit items
- Support internal audit and regulatory examinations as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field;
Master's in Finance, Business Analytics, or MBA preferred - 2+ years of credit analysis or underwriting experience at a bank, commercial lender, or CRE lending/advisory firm
- Hands-on experience with financial spreading, tax return analysis (1040, 1065, 1120/1120S), global cash flow, and DSCR calculations
- Strong credit memo writing and the ability to present a clear recommendation to credit committee
- Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, lookups, pivot tables)
- Exposure to CRE lending, appraisals, or real estate valuation
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple deals on deadline
- Experience with loan origination or credit systems (Credit Quest, Lending Cloud, nCino, Sageworks/Abrigo)
- SQL, Power BI, or Tableau for portfolio reporting
- Progress toward CFA, or credit training such as RMA or CBCA
