DUTIESThe responsibilities of an Interview Specialist include the following interview rater duties:
- chairing an employment selection interview board
- ensuring participation by all interview board members
- monitoring questions for job-relatedness
- managing the interviews to provide candidates with the opportunity to present their qualifications
- evaluating candidates in conjunction with one or more co-raters against uniform rating criteria
- maintaining interview time schedules
Interview Specialists are expected to conduct in-person and virtual interviews. In regard to virtual interviews, Interview Specialists will be responsible for possessing a laptop/computer with a webcam and microphone, a reliable internet connection, and a private location to conduct interviews. Interview Specialists will also be expected to complete yearly and quarterly training required by the Personnel Department. Interview Specialists are also Disaster Service Workers.
Note:
Work assignments are on an “as-needed” basis as this is a part-time position. The number of assignments varies based on the City’s interview schedule. Some months may have a heavy schedule and, as a result, have numerous work assignments, and other months may have no assignments. While work is assigned “as-needed”, consistency is vital to examination integrity. Ideal candidates will have a flexible schedule that allows them to commit to full-day assignments (8 hours) when called.
