Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a two-person billing team while managing workflow and assigning duties.
- Oversee all billing operations, including claim submission for 1500 and UB04 forms, payment posting, A/R follow up, and denial resolution.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, HIPAA, and Los Angeles County DMH billing regulations.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record and billing software daily, with preference for experience using the Welligent EHR system.
- Monitor key billing metrics, identify operational improvements, and prepare reports for leadership review.
- Display strong organizational skills to manage competing billing priorities effectively.
- Communicate clearly with internal teams and external agencies to resolve billing issues.
- Adapt quickly to regulatory changes and updates in DMH billing standards.
- Utilize advanced problem solving abilities to address claim rejections and optimize workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support overall revenue cycle performance.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in healthcare billing or finance.
- 5+ years of experience in medical or behavioral health billing with specialization in Medi-Cal and Medicare.
- Maintain strong knowledge of CPT and ICD?10 coding requirements and relevant regulatory standards.
- Apply proven supervisory capabilities and analytical problem solving skills.
- Hold CMRS or CPC certification or be willing to obtain one.
