Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is looking to hire a motivated laboratory assistant. The department is focused on studying the underlying molecular mechanisms of heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. The Laboratory Assistant will primarily assist with daily laboratory operations, which includes preparing chemical reagents, solutions, equipment maintenance, ordering, and inventory.
Please note that this is a part-time one year limited position, and may convert to career.
Job QualificationsRequired:
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, postdocs, staff, and students.
- Ability to perform laboratory procedures using applicable equipment and techniques.
- Ability to organize and plan future experiments and maintain records accurately.
- Ability to work as part of multiple research teams, collaborating with the PI and other researchers.
- Demonstrated computer skills including knowledge of Excel, MS Word and knowledge of laboratory equipment and survey techniques.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology-related field.
- Basic knowledge of molecular biology and biochemical techniques.
As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct; or have filed an appeal of a finding of substantiated misconduct with a previous employer.
