Giant Steps Community Programs provides essential services to adults with developmental disabilities within the Los Angeles County area. Our programs include group activities, individualized training, and support tailored to promote independence in home and community settings. We also offer opportunities for participants to gain employment experiences, empowering them to build meaningful skills. Additionally, we operate residential facilities that provide 24-hour assistance and support.

Role Description

This is a part‑time, on‑site role located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. The Specialist will work closely with participants to assist them in developing essential life skills, supporting their community integration, and helping them achieve greater independence. Responsibilities include planning and facilitating activities, providing individualized training, and assisting residents in daily living tasks. Collaborative work with the program team to ensure participant well‑being is also a key focus of the role.

Qualifications
  • Experience in planning and facilitating group activities and individualized support programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication and the ability to build positive relationships with participants and team members.
  • Knowledge of developmental disabilities and strategies to promote independence and community integration.
  • Organizational skills for managing schedules, documentation, and participant records.
  • Availability to work flexible hours based on program and participant needs.
  • Empathy, patience, and a passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Previous experience in residential care or community program settings is an advantage.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certifications in a related field are a plus.
