For all positions based in the Los Angeles and San Francisco offices, residency within the state of California and within a reasonable commutable distance to the assigned office is required depending on the firm's discretion and the nature of the role.

Salary Range: $117,000 - $145,000/yr

SUMMARY

Job Functions & Responsibilities

Description of Functions & Responsibilities:

The Human Resources Generalist manages and resolves complex employee relations matters, conducts investigations and provides strategic guidance to managers and employees while ensuring compliance with Firm policies and employment laws. This position will support many of the Firm’s talent programs and oversees all performance management activities. The HR Generalist also develops and updates HR policies and contributes to the implementation of HR initiatives to ensure consistent and effective HR practices across the firm.

The HR Generalist is responsible for Leave of Absence administration, process design and oversight as well as managing requests for workplace accommodations. This position maintains confidential employee relations records and collaborates with HR leadership, management, attorneys, and employees to address concerns and ensure fair, timely processes. The HR Generalist forms collaborative relationships to enable world-class internal customer service, ensuring a high-quality experience when interacting with Human Resources.

Relations
  • Consults and advises employees and leaders on compliance with employment-related programs, policies and procedures, employment laws, employee relations matters, conflict resolutions, disciplinary processes and terminations.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential records of employee relations cases.
  • Administers standardized employee performance management programs including probationary and year-end reviews.
  • Creates and prices job descriptions for new and updated roles.
  • Handles bonus and stipend program administration.
  • Administers leaves of absence, medical accommodations and workers’ compensation claims in accordance with all applicable regulations including ADA, COBRA, EEO, ERISA, FMLA/CFRA, HIPAA, ACA, Social Security, Workers Compensation, and other applicable federal and California or District of Columbia codes and disability programs, and other relevant regulations.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.
Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 5 years in employee relations/investigations.
  • Experience with writing Human Resources policies and general employment law knowledge.
  • Experience in performance management and advising on performance issues.
  • Experience administering leave of absence, accommodations and Workers’ Compensation programs.
  • Ability to establish relationships at all levels and in all areas of the organization.
  • Ability to convey opinions and recommendations in both spoken and written communications.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and use judgement to appropriately navigate situations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to organize and analyze complex information.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Workday preferred.
  • Law firm experience preferred.
