Data Engineer
Overview
Staff Data Engineer – Artera, Denver, CO (onsite or remote; full-time). This role reports to the Engineering VP (Foundations engineering team) and focuses on maintaining and improving data infrastructure to deliver high-quality data to internal and external stakeholders.

- Continuous Enhancement:
Maintain and elevate Artera’s data infrastructure for peak performance and dependability. - Strategic Leadership:
Guide the selection and implementation of data tools and technologies. - Streamlining:
Design and refine data pipelines for smooth and efficient data flow. - Troubleshooting:
Manage daily data operations and swiftly resolve data-related issues. - Cross-Functional Synergy:
Partner with cross-functional teams to develop new data requirements and refine processes. - Guidance:
Mentor junior engineers and assist with complex projects. - Collaborative Innovation:
Contribute to platform improvements and a culture of continuous innovation. - Knowledge Expansion:
Stay informed on industry trends and best practices in data infrastructure and cloud technologies. - Dependability:
Ensure consistent data delivery to customers and stakeholders, adhering to SLAs. - Oversight:
Monitor data infrastructure including recalls, message delivery, and reporting functions. - Proactive:
Improve stability and performance of architecture for team implementations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in STEM preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
- Proven experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
- Strong Python and SQL skills for data processing and automation; experience with Airflow, Docker; understanding of performance optimization and cost management in Snowflake.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Experience with event-sourced and microservice architectures.
- Strong grasp of ES/Type Script.
- Experience with asynchronous requests in large-scale applications.
- Commitment to testing best practices.
- Knowledge of DBT, especially in setting up new projects.
- Experience building and maintaining complex data pipelines and data flows.
- Contributions to open source communities.
- Experience with Docker, Terraform, AWS, Python.
The compensation is based on experience and geographic location. The role includes equity and a variety of benefits.

Work location:
Artera has hybrid offices in Santa Barbara, CA and Philadelphia, PA. We also hire remotely within designated Hiring Hub regions, including Denver, CO;
Boston Metro;
Chicago Metro;
Kansas City;
Los Angeles;
San Francisco Bay Area;
Seattle.
Future office openings may inform a hybrid attendance model; any changes will consider commute times and transit access.
