Founding Full Stack Engineer

This role is posted on behalf of the following client: An early-stage, VC-backed startup building an AI-powered financial operating system for local governments. The platform unifies banking, investing, and automated workflows to replace fragmented portals, legacy tools, and spreadsheets used by cities, counties, and school districts. The team is actively onboarding initial live users through municipal design partners and is building a founding team in Los Angeles.

The Founding Full Stack Engineer will join an onsite founding team in Los Angeles, working closely with technical and executive leadership to shape core architecture and ship end-to-end product features into real production workflows. This role owns major product areas, helps establish engineering standards, and partners on infrastructure, security, and early compliance foundations for a platform handling real money and critical public-sector operations.

• Build and ship full-stack product features across React, Node, Postgres, and AWS.
• Design, implement, and maintain reliable data pipelines and integrations spanning banks, pooled funds, and ERPs.
• Partner directly with pilot customers to refine UX, close workflow gaps, and deliver features that run in production.
• Establish engineering best practices, architecture patterns, and code quality norms in the earliest days.
• Support infrastructure and security efforts including logging/monitoring and SOC 2 foundations.
• Influence product direction and own major slices of the roadmap.
• Help define engineering culture on a small, fast-moving team.

• Experienced owning and shipping production systems end-to-end, ideally in early-stage or high-ownership environments.
• Strong across frontend (React, Type Script) and backend (Node, Postgres, AWS), including API and data model design.
• Comfortable designing modular component systems and scalable, maintainable architecture.
• Excited to work onsite with a tight-knit team and values rapid feedback loops.
• Experienced with cloud infrastructure and secure data handling practices.
• Motivated by building software that moves real money and improves how cities and communities operate.
• Nice to have: LLMs/prompt engineering/fine-tuning, fintech or banking integrations, secure ingestion/ETL pipelines, or experience in regulated/compliance-heavy products.
