Serves as the District's principal technology leader by providing vision, leadership, and management over the strategic planning, design, development, implementation, and operation of enterprise‑level information technology infrastructures, systems, and services supporting the instructional, student services, and business operations of the District and its colleges.
Typical DutiesProvides vision, strategic planning, and executive management for all technology functions and operations throughout the District including, but not limited to, data centers, technical service centers, production scheduling, help desks, communication networks (voice and data), classroom support, computer program/application development and maintenance, and computer systems operations in a manner that effectively supports the instructional, student services, and business operations of the District and is consistent with industry standards and best practices.
Develops strategic plans for District‑wide information management and technology, including technical architectures, systems, applications, and networks; information security/risk management; data processing; telecommunications; and other aspects of IT that focus on information management capability, integration, and interoperability; ensures strategies and objectives are aligned with and responsive to the District's mission, objectives, and priorities.
Directs the assessment of information technology services, initiatives, and projects using project management tools and controls, feasibility studies, cost‑benefit analysis, impact analyses, and related approaches; establishes priorities, allocates resources, monitors progress, and makes adjustments to schedules and scope of work as needed.
Provides leadership in creating and promoting a culture of coordination, facilitation, integration, consultation, trust, and engagement in the resolution of a diverse range of technology challenges among all stakeholders in the District.
Directs the development, deployment, operation, and maintenance of enterprise and college‑level information technology infrastructure, including computing platforms, telecommunications networks, hardware/software and related applications, messaging, and web services including architecture, enhancements, upgrades, and replacements.
Directs the acquisition of technology‑related capital and operating equipment, goods, and services throughout the District; establishes and maintains policies and procedures for specifications development, contract administration, inspection, acceptance, and disposal of information technology assets; oversees the evaluation of vendor proposals and personally conducts negotiations with vendors.
Develops and implements District‑wide technology policies, standards, and protocols in a manner consistent with applicable federal and state law, regulations, and guidelines and industry best practices; monitors and ensures compliance with technology policies, standards, protocols throughout the District.
Directs the development and implementation of information security policy, controls, protocols, and performance measures to adequately and cost effectively protect all critical infrastructure, systems, and data; monitors and ensures compliance with information security policy, controls and protocols, and performance measures throughout the District.
Serves as the principal technical advisor to the Board of Trustees, Chancellor, Cabinet, and Senior Staff on matters related to planning, design, development, implementation, and operation of information systems of the District; chairs and/or participates with key stakeholders in technology and business advisory committees, councils, and work groups.
