Position

Senior Solution Sales Engineer – Position

Description:

Solutions Engineers at Okta are involved in all stages of the customer’s development lifecycle. They create sales presentations, product demonstrations, and educate customers (from developers to product managers to C-level executives) on cloud security technology. The Senior Solutions Engineer will advise a diverse set of Fortune 500 customers on what is possible using Okta’s Identity Platform.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with account executives to develop and execute territory and account strategies to maximize the Okta opportunity in those accounts
  • Conduct research and discovery to understand customer requirements and communicate the business value of solving technology problems using cloud technology
  • Execute the delivery of POCs for customers with complex use cases, collaborating with other Okta engineering teams as needed
  • Craft technical content to show customers how to implement specific use cases or standard methodologies for new technologies
  • Prepare and deliver demos to showcase how the Okta platform meets customer’s business needs and use cases
  • Distill and communicate customer needs and product feedback to Product Management, Engineering, Marketing and Sales
Required Skills
  • 5+ years pre-sales engineering experience
  • A passion to serve the customer, evidenced in customer-facing roles like consulting or support, ideally solutions engineering
  • Ability to quickly and effectively communicate complex technical concepts via presentation, slides and whiteboard
  • Strong Understanding of Identity & Access Management (IAM)
  • SSO, MFA, SCIM, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and LDAP
  • Lifecycle management, RBAC, and provisioning/deprovisioning
  • Strong understanding of Zero Trust Architecture and core security concerns (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, XSRF)
  • Hands-on experience in web/mobile/backend development or IP-based real-time communications is a plus
  • Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Elite communication skills
  • Ability to identify, map, and manage multiple personas: IT admins, CISOs, architects, procurement, and legal
  • Confident dispensing knowledge to a highly skilled audience
  • Typically 10-25% travel
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or a comparable field is preferred

This role requires in-person onboarding and travel to an office in the U.S. during the first week of employment.

The OTE range for this position varies by location (San Francisco Bay Area vs. other California locations) and includes base salary, incentive compensation, equity where applicable, and benefits. To learn more about our Total Rewards program, please visit:

Compensation Ranges

San Francisco Bay Area: $215,000—$323,000 USD
The annual OTE range for locations in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York and Washington is $192,000—$288,000 USD
