Company and TeamThe Data Solutions & Products group is part of Enterprise Technology. We design and develop enterprise data, analytics, and automation solutions used by business teams across the Walt Disney Company. The Data Engineering Manager role is a key technical leadership position on this team.
Responsibilities- Lead a technical team through the delivery of major engineering initiatives, guiding major technical projects related to data platforms and solutions.
- Serve as Delivery Manager for the implementation of a Finance Data Layer—a data lakehouse that provides data to Finance systems and applications, including an EPM system, BI reporting & analytics, and AI/ML applications.
- Lead project teams to deliver on‑time, on‑budget, and on‑scope.
- Innovate, develop, and improve software and data solutions by managing day‑to‑day development, testing, and implementation of technical solutions.
- Own data platform products—setting strategy, defining, and managing product roadmaps.
- Partner closely with business stakeholders to deliver data solutions that meet their needs.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and business audiences.
- Mentor and develop a high‑performing team of data engineers and individual contributors.
- Guide and influence technical decision‑making and collaboration across the organization.
- 8+ years of technical experience designing, architecting, and programming data solutions using Python, Scala, or Java.
- Proven track record of architecting and managing high‑scale cloud data platforms, with mandatory, hands‑on experience in Snowflake.
- Deep expertise in enterprise financial data architectures (e.g., FP&A, modern ledgers, corporate consolidation workflows) and preferably HR data domains.
- Experience as an Engineering Delivery Manager and as a Data Product Owner (defining vision, strategy, and roadmaps).
- Successful execution of large, complex, data‑centric initiatives from inception to production deployment.
- History of leading, mentoring, and developing high‑performing data engineering teams.
- Excellent ability to partner across all organizational levels, translating complex technical roadmaps for non‑technical executives.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with high operational standards, keeping teams aligned on scope, budget, and deadlines.
- Intellectual curiosity and continuous drive to evaluate and adopt emerging data technologies and industry best practices.
- Experience with SAP Systems (S4, BW, HANA, BDC).
- Experience with EPM Systems (e.g., Oracle EPM).
- Knowledge of AI/ML, data governance, and master data management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study (or equivalent work experience).
- Master’s Degree—plus.
Competitive salary ranges by location:
Burbank, CA $171,600 – $230,100;
Seattle $179,700 – $241,000;
Orlando, FL $163,400 – $219,100. Additional bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be offered, along with a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
