Senior Solution Sales Engineer - Position

Description:

We believe Solutions Engineers at Okta are involved in all stages of the customer0s development lifecycle and are experienced using presentations, email, phone and social media to connect with customers. We are looking for teammates that can build sales presentations, product demonstrations, and educate customers (from developers to product managers to C-level executives) on cloud security technology. As a Senior Solutions Engineer at Okta, you will advise a diverse set of Fortune 500 customers on what is possible using Okta0s Identity Platform.

• Collaborate with account executives to develop and execute territory and account strategies to maximize the Okta opportunity in those accounts
• Conduct research and discovery to understand customer requirements and communicate the business value of solving technology problems using cloud technology
• Deliver POCs for customers with complex use cases, collaborating with other Okta engineering teams as needed
• Craft technical content to show customers how to implement specific use cases or standard methodologies for new technologies
• Prepare and deliver demos to demonstrate how the Okta platform meets customer business needs and use cases
• Distill and communicate customer needs and product feedback to Product Management, Engineering, Marketing and Sales

• 5+ years pre-sales engineering experience
• A customer-focused mindset with relevant customer-facing experience (e.g., consulting or support, ideally solutions engineering)
• Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts via presentations, slides and whiteboard
• Strong understanding of Identity & Access Management (IAM)
• SSO, MFA, SCIM, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and LDAP
• Lifecycle management, RBAC, provisioning/deprovisioning
• Strong understanding of Zero Trust Architecture and core security concerns (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, XSRF)
• Hands-on experience in web/mobile/backend development or related areas is a plus
• Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP
• Elite communication skills
• Ability to map and manage multiple personas: IT admins, CISOs, architects, procurement, legal
• Typically 10-25% travel
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or a related field is preferred

This role requires in-person onboarding and travel to an office in the U.S. during the first week of employment. Some roles may require travel to one of our office locations for in-person onboarding.

OTE ranges vary by location. For candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area, the OTE range is between $215,000 — $323,000 USD. For candidates in California (excluding SF Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York and Washington, the OTE range is between $192,000 — $288,000 USD.
