Senior Collaboration Engineer (ITS) – Information Technology Services
Support USC’s enterprise collaboration platforms that connect academic and administrative communities. This hands‑on senior systems engineering role is part of the Collaboration Technologies team, working closely with local IT teams, ITS technical staff, Cybersecurity, vendors, and stakeholders across the university.
Key Responsibilities- Integrate and support a broad range of collaboration tools and services to optimize productivity across USC.
- Work with customers, vendors, and stakeholders in academic and administrative units and share subject‑matter expertise with coworkers and management.
- Set strategies and establish priorities to align collaboration projects with departmental and university goals.
- Evaluate existing tools, recommend improvements, and experiment with new or updated products.
- Engage with customers to gather feedback and identify improvement opportunities.
- Apply industry knowledge and best practices to support innovation and continuous improvement.
- Analyze complex data to identify root causes and develop effective troubleshooting protocols.
- Create and maintain knowledge‑base articles, tutorials, and training resources.
- Foster a welcoming environment and a culture of trust and transparency, sharing information broadly and deliberately.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with team members, peers, and leaders.
- Actively embody ITS values and behaviors, including accountability, ethics, and best‑in‑class customer service.
- Collaborate with team members and management to implement solutions that support Collaboration Technologies’ vision.
- Stay current with emerging collaboration technologies, standards, and best practices.
- Support process‑improvement efforts within the team and across the ITS organization.
Fully remote with occasional on‑site presence as needed. Participation in a shared after‑hours on‑call rotation with the Collaboration Technologies team.

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree (combined experience/education can substitute).
- 5 years of experience in collaboration software administration.
- Extensive experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting collaboration tools such as Office 365, Google Workspace, Confluence, JIRA, Dropbox, and Qualtrics.
- Experience with Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, and email routing.
- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, establish standards, and influence adoption using automation tools (Power Shell, Unix shell, APIs).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, translating complex input into actionable outcomes and business‑friendly solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills, building positive relationships with a diverse community of stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills, prioritizing and managing multiple projects aligned to university objectives.
- Ability to enforce alignment with service‑level agreements, policies, procedures, regulations, and other requirements.
- 8 years of experience;
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. - Strong Microsoft 365 administration (Entra , Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and related services).
- Experience supporting Google Workspace administration (GAM, APIs, bulk operations).
- Power Shell scripting and REST API programming for automation, reporting, and system administration.
- Knowledge of SaaS security, identity and access management, OAuth, data governance, and email security.
- Collaboration with Cybersecurity, IAM, and IT teams on provisioning, compliance, and incident management.
- Experience with Slack Enterprise Grid, Listserv, Qualtrics, Proofpoint, and similar platforms.
- Azure administration relevant to Microsoft 365 and Google Cloud project administration.
- Experience with eDiscovery, disaster recovery, retention policies, legal hold, and content search for collaboration platforms.
- Service Now or comparable ticketing and service‑management system experience.
- Vendor escalation management and knowledge‑base article creation.
- Familiarity with AI collaboration features such as M365 Copilot, Google Gemini, and Slack AI.
- Experience in central IT or large, distributed, Microsoft‑heavy environments.
- Relevant Microsoft or other certifications.
