Director, Technology Business Management

Our client is a large, Fortune 500 insurance organization undergoing significant enterprise transformation. Over the past several years, they've completed three major acquisitions and continue to invest heavily in modernizing their technology organization.

As a result, they're creating a highly visible Director of Technology Business Management (TBM) to help IT leadership make smarter investment decisions through strategic cost management, technology business management, and value optimization.

We're looking for someone who combines the strategic thinking of a management consultant with the execution mindset needed to influence a large, matrixed enterprise. You'll partner directly with executive technology leaders to improve cost transparency, evaluate technology investments, build compelling business cases, and ensure every technology dollar is aligned with business value.

This position sits within IT Finance & Analytics but operates as a true strategic partner to IT leadership.

• Lead Technology Business Management (TBM) initiatives across the enterprise IT organization.
• Drive technology cost transparency and identify opportunities for cost and value optimization.
• Partner with executive technology leaders to evaluate strategic investments and technology roadmaps.
• Develop executive-level business cases supporting technology initiatives, modernization efforts, and capital investments.
• Build financial models that help leadership prioritize technology investments based on business impact.
• Partner with Cloud Engineering and Infrastructure teams on Fin Ops and cloud spend optimization initiatives.
• Analyze technology contracts, vendor spend, licensing, and operational costs to identify optimization opportunities.
• Evaluate technical debt and develop recommendations around modernization investments.
• Support technology due diligence and financial planning for mergers and acquisitions, including onboarding newly acquired organizations.
• Present recommendations and strategic insights to executive leadership and influence technology investment decisions.

We're seeking someone who brings a blend of Technology Business Management, IT Finance, and management consulting experience.

This role is an excellent fit for someone who is currently a Manager, Senior Manager, or newer Director at a leading consulting firm or who recently transitioned into industry.

Candidates should bring experience helping enterprise technology organizations improve operational efficiency, optimize technology spend, and make strategic investment decisions, not simply managing budgets.
