Bilingual Russian Patient Advocate – Connect Russian-Speaking LA Seniors to Free Care

We provide medical care, in-home support, hospice and palliative care, cancer navigation, and 200+ other free services to qualifying seniors. Every service is delivered at no cost, regardless of insurance status.

Role Overview :

As Bilingual Russian Patient Advocate, you will serve as the trusted point of contact for Russian-speaking older adults across west LA, Hollywood, and beyond. You will translate and advocate through Medi‑Cal, IHSS, hospice, and other benefits navigation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial assessments with Russian-speaking seniors and families
  • Translate between English-speaking staff and Russian-speaking clients during medical and benefits conversations
  • Help clients enroll in Medi‑Cal, IHSS, hospice, Medicare Savings Programs, and other benefits
  • Accompany clients to medical appointments and benefits offices as interpreter and advocate
  • Document interactions in our case-management system and follow up on open issues
  • Build trust with Russian-speaking communities (including Ukrainian, Belarusian, Moldovan) through outreach
Qualifications:
  • Native or near-native fluency in Russian AND English;
    Ukrainian a plus
  • Experience working with elderly populations, healthcare systems, or social services
  • Cultural competency with Russian/Eastern European senior communities, including immigrants from former Soviet states
  • Strong empathy, patience, and ability to explain complex topics in plain language
  • High school diploma; bachelor's in social work, public health, or related preferred
