Legal Operations; eBilling​/Outside Counsel Management

Leading Entertainment Company is seeking a Temporary Legal Operations Analyst to join its Legal Business Operations team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about the business and economics of law, with a deep understanding of how in-house legal departments and outside counsel collaborate. The position involves analytical rigor and strategic curiosity, spanning the full outside counsel engagement lifecycle.

Title: Legal Operations Analyst (contract)

Location: Hybrid (Los Angeles, CA, USA - 4 days/week in office)

Duration: 3 months

Hourly Pay Rate
: $40 - $55 / hour ($80,000 - $110,000)

• Generate, analyze, and deliver detailed reports using data from Legal Tracker, focusing on outside counsel spend, LEDES data, and rate analysis.
• Work extensively in Excel to analyze large and complex legal datasets, utilizing functions such as pivot tables, lookups, various formulas, and data visualization tools.
• Support rate-related initiatives, including preparing analyses for internal attorneys in advance of discussions with law firms.
• Assist with benchmarking, tracking, and analyzing legal spend across firms, matters, timekeepers, and invoice detail.
• Support enforcement and monitoring of AFAs within Legal Tracker by tracking compliance, identifying variances, and reporting on adherence to agreed fee structures.
• Prepare summaries, insights, and presentations based on analysis and ad hoc reporting requests for Legal Operations leadership and internal clients.
• Manage multiple reporting and analysis requests simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and meeting tight deadlines.

• 5+ years’ experience in analytics, metrics, finance, legal operations, or a similar role.
• Experience in a large Corporate Legal Department or law firm required.
• Strong understanding of legal metrics, legal data, and reporting concepts.
• Demonstrated experience working with law firm rates, legal spend, and outside counsel data.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Office, with advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, and other analytical tools within), Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Legal Tracker or other e-billing matter management systems.
• Highly organized and process-oriented, with strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
