The Opportunity
Silvus is seeking a Buyer who will report to the Supply Chain Manager on the Supply Chain team. The successful candidate will own material planning, purchasing execution, supplier coordination, and follow-through to ensure uninterrupted production and on-time delivery. Ideal candidates will have strong analytical skills, supplier management experience, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This position is based at Silvus Technologies’ Warehouse in Culver City, CA and is on a hybrid schedule. A minimum of 3 days onsite per week is expected (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays).
Role and Responsibilities- Take full ownership of the procurement process from demand planning through purchase order execution and post-delivery follow-through.
- Analyze material requirements to support production, inventory levels, and forecasts to ensure timely procurement of materials.
- Create and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders with accuracy in pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor and expedite open orders to ensure on-time delivery of materials required for production.
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Shipping to support operations and resolve material shortages.
- Manage supplier relationships, including negotiations on pricing, lead times, delivery commitments, and service levels.
- Track supplier performance and resolve delivery, quality, and supply chain issues, escalating critical concerns as needed to minimize risk.
- Ensure timely resolution of discrepancies related to shipments, invoices, returns, and non-conforming materials.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, ERP/MRP data, and inventory parameters. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Support new product introductions by sourcing components and coordinating supplier readiness.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Physics or related field, OR 3+ years of relevant experience in Supply Chain or Operations in manufacturing or related industry.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership in a fast-paced environment.
- Production scheduling experience required.
- Ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to clients under U.S. federal contracts.
- All employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a background check and drug test.
- Knowledge of BOM structures, MRP/ERP systems and manufacturing planning processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement reporting tools.
