Category Manager, Global Real Estate & Construction Procurement (Hybrid, 4 days onsite
-Friday’s remote)

New York, NY 10022 or Charlotte, NC 28226
24 month contract (potential extension)

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Category Manager specializing in Global Real Estate and Construction Procurement to support a large portfolio of corporate real estate and workplace projects.

This is a senior, hands-on strategic sourcing role responsible for developing category strategies and leading complex sourcing initiatives across construction, architecture, engineering, project management, furniture, workplace technology, and related real estate services.

The ideal candidate brings deep strategic sourcing expertise combined with direct experience supporting large-scale corporate real estate and construction projects
. This individual will partner closely with Real Estate, Finance, Legal, Risk, project teams, and senior business leaders to drive projects from sourcing strategy and competitive bidding through contract negotiation and implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute category and sourcing strategies for corporate real estate, design, construction, workplace, and facilities-related services
    .
  • Lead complex RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, bid evaluations, supplier selections, and contract negotiations for major capital projects.
  • Manage sourcing activities across architecture, engineering, general contractors, project management, furniture, technology infrastructure, and specialty vendors.
  • Lead projects throughout the procurement lifecycle, from initial strategy and requirements through supplier selection, contracting, and implementation
    .
  • Negotiate construction and professional services agreements, MSAs, SOWs, rate cards, and other commercial terms.
  • Partner with Legal and Risk to ensure contracts appropriately address risk, insurance, indemnification, performance, and compliance requirements
    .
  • Develop and manage strategic supplier relationships, performance metrics, and supplier governance.
  • Use spend analysis, market intelligence, supplier data, and industry trends to support category strategies and sourcing decisions.
  • Partner with project managers and senior stakeholders to balance quality, project timelines, risk, and commercial value
    .
  • Support multiple complex real estate projects simultaneously across U.S. and global locations.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement, category management, or commercial management experience.
  • 5+ years of direct Corporate Real Estate, Design, Construction, Workplace, or Facilities procurement experience.
  • Proven experience independently leading large, complex, high-dollar construction or real estate sourcing initiatives
    .
  • Strong experience developing category strategies and leading competitive RFx processes
    .
  • Hands-on experience negotiating construction, professional services, consulting, and/or master service agreements.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with an understanding of construction budgets, contracts, risk, and supplier negotiations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and executive presence.
  • Experience with enterprise sourcing/procurement platforms such as Ariba, Zip, Coupa, or similar systems
    .
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Real Estate, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Financial services or another large, complex corporate environment.
  • Experience with construction delivery models such as Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, or CMAR.
  • CPSM, CIPS, PMP, MRICS, CCM, LEED, or similar professional certification.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI and emerging technology to improve sourcing and procurement processes.
