Senior Buyer
Los Angeles, CA | Direct Hire | Competitive Salary + Benefits
Omni Staffing is partnering with a well-established aerospace manufacturer in Los Angeles, CA to find an experienced Senior Buyer for their Supply Chain team. This is a direct-hire opportunity for a procurement professional who knows aerospace raw materials and components inside and out, negotiates with confidence, and keeps production moving in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
If you've got 7+ years buying in a manufacturing environment — including hands-on experience sourcing aerospace components and raw materials like sheet, plate, bar, tubing, and wire — we want to talk to you.
What You'll Do- Source and buy aerospace components, assemblies, raw materials, and outside processing services to keep production and customer deliveries on track.
- Own an assigned supplier portfolio: negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times; manage on-time delivery and quality performance.
- Turn MRP-generated purchase recommendations into purchase orders while balancing inventory investment against demand.
- Negotiate long-term agreements (LTAs) and drive cost savings and cost-avoidance initiatives.
- Spot supply chain risk before it becomes a problem — analyze supplier capacity, market conditions, and alternate sources.
- Partner with Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing, Program Management, and Quality to resolve shortages and expedite critical deliveries.
- Lead supplier recovery efforts and resolve delivery, quality, and invoice discrepancies.
- Qualify suppliers to AS9100/ISO-9001 standards and support supplier audits and corrective actions.
- Track supplier performance via KPIs: on-time delivery, quality (PPM), lead time, and cost savings.
- Mentor junior buyers and help shape purchasing best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field — or 10+ years of progressive procurement experience in lieu of a degree.
- 7+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, including at least 5 years buying aerospace components and/or raw materials.
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and cost-analysis skills.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Infor, Mapics, Epicor, SAP, Oracle, LN, Global Shop, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
- Solid grasp of metals terminology and purchasing policy, procedure, and ethics.
- Advanced Excel skills and general PC proficiency.
- Strong communicator who can work confidently with suppliers, engineers, and leadership.
- CNC machined components, sheet metal fabrication, or stampings
- Weldments, castings, or forgings
- Aerospace hardware and fasteners
- Aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, nickel alloys, or Inconel
- Aerospace special processes — heat treat, anodize, passivation, plating, NDT
- This role is subject to ITAR/EAR export control regulations — candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or otherwise eligible under U.S. government screening requirements.
- Some travel to supplier locations (up to 10%) and occasional time on the manufacturing floor.
