Department Summary

We provide Custodial Services for UCLA’s over 12.5 million combined state supported and client requested square footage. We cater to all areas of our University, including specialized areas such as vivarium, recreational facilities, wet and dry laboratories and patient care areas. To make this all run smoothly, it takes a team of dedicated and trained custodians to provide our customers with the highest level of service while meeting their needs 7 days a week.

UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. • Custodial Experience Six months of previous custodial experience. (Preferred)
• Equipment Working knowledge of all aspects of custodial cleaning and/or general maintenance duties and services. (Required)
• Equipment Working knowledge of equipment utilized by custodial staff, e.g. vacuum cleaner and various mopping, sweeping, dusting tools. (Required)
• Equipment Working knowledge of proper use of various floor care machines utilized by custodial staff, e.g. stripping machine, waxer/buffer, water pick-ups, etc. (Preferred)
• 1) Ability to maintain highest quality of custodial services at level consistent with University and department standards. (Required)
• 2) Oral communications skills in English to obtain or convey clear, concise and grammatically correct information (Required)
• 3) Skill in reading standard English text in order to follow through on written orders, read labels on cleaning products, or instructions on equipment, and carry out assignments in a safe manner. (Required)
• 4) Skill in writing simple English words and phrases using correct grammar and spelling to complete notes to Leads/Supervisors that are easy to comprehend. (Required)
• 5) Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments. (Required)
• 6) Working knowledge of standard safe work practices, procedures, and methodologies. (Required)
• 7) Ability to consistently report to work on time prepared to perform the duties of the position and maintain good attendance. (Required)
• 8) Ability to work overtime and weekends. (Required)
• 9) Ability to work various shifts. (Required)
• 10) Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and a positive and respectful attitude with peers, subordinates, supervisors, administrator, customers and visitors. (Required)

• High School (Preferred)
• Possession of a Valid California Driver's License if required to operate a University vehicle. 100 (Preferred)

• Background Check:
  Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
• Age Requirement:
  Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
• Pre-Placement Physical:
  Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination.
• Driving Record:
  The position is subject to the California DMV "Pull Notice System" and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
