Brief DescriptionKitchell is seeking an experienced and dedicated Construction Project Manager (Healthcare) to join our Southern California region in Los Angeles and build a long‑term career at one of the most innovative and growth‑oriented building companies in the United States.
OverviewThis opportunity will lead Modernization / Tenant Improvement projects inside an active hospital(s) in accordance with HCAI regulatory oversight guidelines.
Duties And Responsibilities- Act as an Owners Representative with direct client facing responsibilities
- Hands on instinct to have “eyes on” any concerns on site to provide input
- Strong knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure relation and compliance to project requirements
- Responsible for onsite quality assurance of contractor work
- Coordinate, direct, and monitor activities of the contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
- Collaborate with IOR and HCAI/OSHPD field officials
- Manage project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures required by the client
- Conduct project meetings and provide documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information
- Ensure contractor, architect, and engineer, adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
- Provide management of project logistics, organization, safety, and work force utilization
- Ensure project closeout to obtain guarantees, warranties, and related provisions for final project delivery to the owner
- Perform other duties as required to ensure project success
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related discipline is preferred
- 8 or more years of experience in Construction Management with 3 or more in an HCAI Healthcare Construction Environment in California is required
- Experience working in the occupied space of an active hospital is required
- Knowledge of MEP design requirements, general knowledge of significant medical equipment and industry practices specific to the Healthcare (HCAI) sector in California is required
- Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings and blueprints is required
- Inspection and dust Control experience in occupied spaces is strongly preferred
- Proficient use of the Microsoft Suite of tools is required and knowledge of scheduling database tools such as P6 and Procore is preferred
- Strong working knowledge of the low voltage, IT, and industry specific embedded mechanical and plumbing utilities within a hospital are required
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly work in an office and or construction environment. Conditions regularly include exposure to outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, wet atmospheric conditions, and cramped quarters with occasionally loud noise level in the work.
Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, stand, walk, talk or hear and use hands to finger, feel and handle; frequently reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must frequently lift and or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
