Department Summary
The UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science includes more than 6,500 undergraduate and graduate students and 215 full-time faculty members. Established in 1945, UCLA Samueli is known as the birthplace of the internet, and where countless other fields took some of their first steps - from artificial intelligence to reverse osmosis, from mobile communications to human prosthetics. The school academic departments include Bioengineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, as well as the recently added Department of Computational Medicine, which is affiliated with both the David Geffen School of Medicine and Samueli.
In addition, UCLA Samueli offers the Master of Science in Engineering Online program and a Master of Engineering professional degree program.
UCLA Samueli School of Engineering seeks a dynamic Executive Director to lead the operations and growth of its Semiconductor Hub - a high-impact initiative connecting world‑class UCLA faculty with leading semiconductor industry partners. This role serves as the operational leader of a multi‑million‑dollar, industry‑engaged research enterprise, driving alliance development, sponsored research coordination, and program expansion in collaboration with faculty and school leadership.
The Executive Director will cultivate strategic industry partnerships, oversee a dedicated team, and help position UCLA at the forefront of semiconductor innovation and workforce development.
UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications- 10-15+ years of progressively responsible experience in technology R&D, industry partnerships, or research program management.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi‑stakeholder programs and external partnerships.
- Experience overseeing substantial programmatic budgets and revenue‑generating initiatives.
- Demonstrated success developing and maintaining industry relationships and collaborative research programs.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience in semiconductor area, or related advanced technology sectors. (Preferred)
- Experience working within or partnering with academic research institutions. (Preferred)
- Industry Partnership Management:
Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and expand corporate partnerships and industry‑sponsored programs in a complex organizational environment. - Program & Operational Management:
Proven ability to lead and administer multifaceted programs, including budget monitoring, workflow development, performance tracking, and process improvement. - Supervision & Team Leadership:
Ability to supervise professional staff, manage performance, prioritize workloads, and ensure accountability for program deliverables. - Executive Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with faculty leadership, senior administrators, and industry representatives.
- Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent combination of education and experience/training.
- Master's Degree in related area engineering, technology, or business area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- PhD in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Background Check:
