Facilities Engineering
Reporting to the Director, Facilities & Sustainability, the Manager, Facility Services & Safety provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for facilities-related logistics, administration, storage, move management, dock operations, event support, and regulatory compliance across multiple sites. This role is responsible for developing and implementing systems, standards, and long-term plans that ensure efficient, compliant, and customer-focused logistics operations.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Team Management
* Lead, develop, and manage Facility Services Supervisor, Coordinator, and Technicians.
* Establish department goals, performance metrics, and service standards aligned with institutional objectives.
* Conduct workforce planning, including staffing models, succession planning, and professional development initiatives.
* Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to ensure accountability and growth.
* Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, customer service, and operational excellence.
Operational & Events Logistics Management
* Develop and implement standardized processes for move management, storage operations, dock coordination, and event support.
* Ensure efficient utilization of personnel, equipment, and storage capacity across multiple sites.
* Lead complex relocations, multi-phase moves, and high-profile institutional events.
* Evaluate operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
* Provide strategic oversight for facilities support of events, meetings, and special programs.
* Partner with internal departments and external vendors to assess feasibility, staffing requirements, safety considerations, and operational impact.
* Establish service-level standards for event setup, technical coordination, and post-event restoration.
Storage & Dock Management
* Provide strategic oversight of non-art storage operations, both onsite and offsite.
* Develop inventory tracking systems, utilization standards, and lifecycle management practices.
* Create policies governing storage eligibility, retention timelines, and space optimization.
* Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance, organization, and efficient use of space.
* Oversee dock scheduling and delivery coordination.
* Implement improvements that streamline dock flow and reduce operational bottlenecks.
* Coordinate closely with Security, Facilities, and external partners.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety Programs
* Ensure compliance with fire and life safety regulations, ergonomics standards, hazardous materials handling, and contractor/vendor safety requirements.
* Maintain required safety and regulatory documentation, permits, and inspection records.
* Develop and deliver safety training and awareness programs for staff and contractors (e.g., PPE use, ergonomics, hazard communication).
* Maintain training logs and ensure current employee certifications
* Conducts ergonomic assessments and makes recommendations for workspace modification as needed.
* Manage hazardous waste, e-waste, and universal waste programs in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
* Partner with internal departments to develop and revise Emergency Operations and Business Continuity Plans.
* Support Manager of Emergency Management and Planning and Director of Security in planning and facilitating evacuation drills, tabletop exercises, and emergency response training for staff.
* Serve as liaison with local emergency responders, regulatory agencies, and external safety partners.
* Support Security by maintaining readiness of the Emergency Operations Center and coordinating activation during incidents.
Benefits:
* The expected salary range for this Los Angeles, CA-based position is $80,000 - $85,000, subject to change, and the position is eligible for LACMA's comprehensive benefits package, including a pension plan.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
* Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in facilities logistics, operations, or related fields, with a minimum of 3 years of management experience overseeing staff and cross-functional operations.
* Demonstrated experience managing budgets, financial workflows, and compliance programs.
* Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
* Proficiency with Google Suite and facilities management software (e.g., FMX or similar platforms).
