At adidas, precision and craftsmanship define how we bring innovative footwear to life. The Stitching Technician plays a vital role in transforming design concepts into high quality stitched uppers that meet our performance and aesthetic standards.

As part of Global Operations within Product Operations, you will contribute directly to the development, validation, and commercialization of new footwear products. Your expertise supports efficient sample creation, optimized construction methods, and strong collaboration across cross functional teams.

This role combines technical skill with problem solving agility. By delivering consistent craftsmanship and identifying opportunities to improve assembly processes, you will help accelerate development timelines and strengthen manufacturing readiness.

Working closely with Creation and Technical teams, you will ensure each upper is built with accuracy, durability, and consumer focus in mind, reinforcing adidas standards of quality and innovation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Construction

    Collaboration:

    Partner closely with Creation Teams to determine effective construction processes and assembly sequences for each shoe upper design.
  • Technical Analysis and Optimization:
    Analyze stitching methods and recommend optimal construction approaches to improve manufacturability, cost efficiency, and product performance.
  • Problem Solving and Communication:
    Approach ambiguous design challenges with a solution oriented mindset and clearly communicate recommendations to management and technical stakeholders.
  • Craft Execution:
    Pre-fit cut upper parts by marking, skiving, splitting, perforating, and preparing materials for precise assembly.
  • Upper Assembly:
    Assemble pre-fit cut components in the correct sequence according to technical specifications to produce high quality stitched uppers and matched pairs ready for lasting.
  • Machinery Operation:
    Operate and maintain required machinery including splitters, skivers, auto cutting machines, and various stitching machines to ensure production accuracy and efficiency.
  • Technical Review Support:
    Conduct technical reviews with designers and developers and provide recommendations to improve product quality and manufacturability.
  • Continuous Learning:
    Stay current with emerging stitching technologies and techniques through ongoing skills development and training.
  • Cross Functional Support:
    Support cross training initiatives within the sample department and provide backup coverage as needed to maintain workflow continuity.
  • Timeline and Quality Management:
    Complete assigned projects within established timelines while maintaining strict quality standards.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in stitching, footwear, or related technical roles.
  • Ability to operate or quickly learn machinery required for pre fitting and stitching footwear.
  • Understanding of materials used in footwear prototyping and development.
  • Ability to analyze and optimize upper assembly sequences.
  • Strong aptitude for learning new processes and technical operations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Detail oriented with a strong commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to cross train and support other functions within the sample department.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • College or university degree in Fashion, Textiles, Apparel Development, or a related field.
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in the Apparel or Footwear industry in a technical capacity.
  • Exposure to sample room environments or footwear prototyping processes.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is based in Downtown Los Angeles, USA. The role operates within a hands on sample making and technical development environment.

Daily work involves operating specialized machinery, handling footwear materials, and collaborating closely with cross functional partners. Extended periods of standing and focused manual work are required.

The position may require flexibility to support shifting development priorities and project timelines.
