The employee is engaged in the fabrication and assembly of flight hardware, tooling, dies, jigs, fixtures, and includes the development and oversight of special projects.

Essential Functions
  • The ability to fabricate tools and fixtures.
  • Interpret aerospace drawings and specifications.
  • Use various types of fabrication equipment, conventional machine tools, precision measurement tools, and various hand tools.
  • Understanding of assembly, bonding, riveting, and other processes associated with tool shop jobs.
  • Serve as a working lead, providing hands‑on support, training, and technical guidance to flight hardware assembly technicians to ensure consistent workmanship and adherence to procedures.
  • Interpret complex aerospace and flight hardware drawings, specifications, tolerances, and workmanship standards.
  • Analyze engineering documentation, assembly plans, and build instructions to determine proper assembly sequence, tools, fixtures, and materials required.
  • Ability to create step by step work instructions for the team to follow, insuring the correct build sequence.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, clearances, and torque values using precision measurement and inspection tools such as laser tracker, Faro/Romer arm, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, torque tools, and gauges.
  • Accurately position parts and subassemblies using fixtures, templates, and direct measurement to ensure proper alignment and configuration.
  • Perform mechanical assembly operations including fastening, bonding, riveting, staking, safety wiring, and related aerospace assembly processes.
  • Conduct functional checks, basic testing, and troubleshooting of assembled hardware to ensure compliance with design and quality requirements.
  • Ensure assemblies meet customer quality standards and on‑time delivery schedules, escalating technical or schedule risks as needed.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, mechanical and electronic tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures, and inspection equipment in a manufacturing or clean‑room environment.
  • Perform paint touch‑up and finishing of hardware or components as required, including surface preparation, paint mixing, application, and cleanup.
  • Support configuration control, documentation accuracy, and traceability requirements for flight hardware builds.
  • Ability to effectively lead and provide direction to an assembly team to ensure quality, productivity, and schedule.
  • Tracker knowledge-build jig & fixtures using Laser Tracker is a plus.
  • Qualifications and Skills Required
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and common‑sense reasoning to carry out detailed, verbal and written instructions.
  • Advanced working knowledge of flight hardware, tooling/GSE, bonding, composite materials, riveting, and other processes associated with tool shop and aerospace assembly operations.
  • Advanced mathematical proficiency, including Algebra, Trigonometry, and GD&T‑related calculations.
  • Ability to set up and operate fabrication and machining equipment, including band saws, milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, and hoist/crane equipment.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, including drill motors, grinders, and basic precision measurement instruments such as micrometer, calipers, and bore gauges.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and maneuver objects weighing between 15 and 50 pounds.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience as an Assembler, including prior experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment.
