Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Hone and Lap - Machinist A 2nd Shift. The core hours are 1:45pm to 10:15pm. The hourly rate for this position is 34.51 - 51.77 per hour.

What you’ll do:Eaton Aerospace Group located in Los Angeles, CA (near Glendale metro) has an opening for a Machinist
A. The LA facility has approximately 250 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.
- Capability to setup complex parts and operate machine without supervision.
- Interprets plans, work order, blueprints or drawings to determine the necessary work required, full understanding of GD&T.
- Inspects parts for quality and appropriate tolerance using the appropriate measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, air gages and comparators.
- Finishes all parts with different materials to close tolerance without supervision.
- Examines surface of work piece for defects before starting work.
- Meet production and quality requirements at all times, always keep work area clean.
- Modify machining feed and speeds on multiple material types and select tooling, gauges as/if required.
- Use measuring tools, air gauges, micrometers and other inspection tools to verify part quality.
- Replaces worn tools, inspect parts and adjust tool offsets as needed.
- Drives for continuous process improvements.
Basic (Required)
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of seven (7) years experience in machining, honing or lapping parts in a manufacturing environment.

- No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Los Angeles, CA (50 miles) will be considered for this position.
- This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158.
- Aerospace experience.
- 8 plus years experience in machining, honing or lapping parts in a manufacturing environment.
- Involvement in successful process definition and re-engineering.
- Experience in employee involvement in multi-discipline teaming.
- Proficiency with computer based methods and tools.
- Familiarity/experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement and Six Sigma methodology.
- Experienced with multiple machine tools, production methods and shop practices preferred.
- Ability to learn equipment and processes for fabrication of aerospace parts, produce parts in accordance with the production plans, sketches and/or verbal instructions.
- Ability to maintain close tolerance dimensions on critical parts.
- Knowledge of dimensional measuring instrumentations and use of such tools to verify actual measurements of machined diameters, dimensions and features.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, manufacturing routings, procedures, and routers.
- Good verbal and written communication skills a must.
- Familiarity with SPC principles and methods.
