As the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games, OMEGA will supply timing, scoring and in‑venue results systems, equipment and service to the Games.

As an Olympic Partner, OMEGAs vital role is to provide such precise timing and imaging for every event so that there is no question for the athletes and judges about who the winners are. To do this, OMEGA continually evolves its state‑of‑the‑art technology and equipment and employs a team of experts who will be based in LA to lead with the planning and implementation of the LA28 Games.

Job

description
  • Collect and communicate volunteer requirements
    • Create and maintain the Volunteer Requirements documents;
    • Work with OMEGA teams to review and understand volunteer roles and numbers;
    • Update and create descriptions of volunteer roles across all sports;
    • Provide volunteer requirements and role descriptions to LA28 to aid in the selection of appropriate volunteers.
  • Coordinate the selection of LA28 volunteers for OMEGA operational roles
    • Work with LA28 to compile the Volunteer Allocation plan for volunteers to be assigned to OMEGA volunteer operational roles;
    • Ensure that a reserve list of volunteers is created as part of the Volunteer Allocation Plan.
  • Communicate OMEGA Training Strategy and ensure availability of training materials
    • Gather information on volunteer training needs working with OMEGA Sport teams;
    • Review existing volunteer training material and coordinate creation of new materials as necessary;
    • Communicate OMEGA Training Strategy within LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games context.
  • Create volunteer training schedules and ensure correct training delivered
    • Co‑coordinate and finalise training schedules for volunteers in OMEGA operations and for International Technical Officials and National Technical Officials;
    • Observe and assess volunteer training and collect volunteer feedback on training.
  • Manage all volunteer related information
    • Own, update and maintain all volunteer and training related materials used to communicate OMEGA requirements for volunteers and approach to training;
    • Manage and maintain documents on appropriate SharePoint sites.
  • Volunteer related reporting and Transfer of Knowledge
    • Report monthly on the status of the volunteer project;
    • Produce the OMEGA Volunteer Report at end of the project;
    • Co‑ordinate the input to the Volunteers section of the OMEGA End of Games Report.
  • Lead Operational Policies & Procedures activity
    • Ensure timely collection and communication of OMEGA Operational Policies and Procedures according to LA28 timeline;
    • Coordinate internal OMEGA review of all LA28 Operational Policies and Procedures that implicate/ involve OMEGA roles.

The position and responsibilities may shift over time as the Olympic Games environment is complex and evolves rapidly.

Profile

The Training & Volunteer Manager will be responsible for communicating OMEGAs requirements for volunteers and working with LA28 to ensure selection of the appropriate volunteers from the Organizing Committees pool of volunteer applications. Additionally, the Training & Volunteer Manager will work with internal teams to ensure the availability and quality of the required training materials and schedule the required training sessions for all LA28 volunteers involved in OMEGA operations and the training for the International Technical Officials and National Technical Officials who will use OMEGAs equipment and systems to manage the sport competition.

Professional

requirements Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience of working successfully across different teams;
  • Experience working with volunteers, volunteer selection and or training would be beneficial;
  • Experience of training and / or teaching would be beneficial;
  • Experience working with large events, sport or similar would be an asset.
  • Experience of managing projects or working in project management;
  • Excellent business acumen and ability to exercise initiative, tact, sound judgment and prioritization.
