Certified Hemodialysis Technician; CHT

This position encompasses a Certified Hemodialysis Technician who is also certified in dialysis machine and equipment repair. Technician will perform preventative maintenance services and will ensure continuous operation of equipment with the aid of Bio-Med/PIH as necessary. The Technical-CHT will work with the designated bio-med /clinical laboratory to ensure water and dialysate cultures are obtained and maintained within AAMI/ANSI and other regulatory standards/guidelines to ensure water safety for the dialysis population.

The Technical-CHT will provide equipment education to other CHTs /RNs as needed. The Technical-CHT will communicate with the patient, dialysis nurse, primary RN, MD and nurse manager. In addition, Technical-CHT will collaborate with the Dialysis Nurse Manager and Dialysis Registered Nurse staff to determine assigned work priorities and coordinate machine pre and post set up to maximize the efficiency of the Registered Nurse.

Responsible and accountable for providing support dialysis service (hemodialysis and CRRT) for acute inpatients, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with MD orders, hospital policy, and CMS guidelines for a Technical - Certified Hemodialysis Technician.

• Current California Hemodialysis Certification (CHT) through the Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT) or through the National Association of Nephrology Technicians/Technologist (NANT).
• Current Basic Life Support Card.
• 2 years acute care experience and/or previous Bio
  - Med/CHT dialysis experience.
• 4 years of Bio
  - Medical machine and preventative maintenance experience and/or documentation demonstrating competency to work on various Dialysis Machines (including Fresenius Machines), and Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water systems.
• LA City Fire Card within six months of employment.
