South consists of two 24‑bed surgical units that specialize in the care and treatment of adult patients requiring hospitalization for pre‑ and postoperative procedures or trauma injuries. The majority of cases are colorectal, bariatric, urology, plastic, GYN, gender‑affirming, ENT, oncology, and general surgical procedures.
- Provide administration of medications and therapeutic agents necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitative plans.
- Provide patient education on disease prevention and restorative measures.
- Accurately document direct and indirect patient care services that ensure safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients in a timely manner.
- Perform skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and initiate peripheral venous access.
- Observe and assess signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to medications or treatments, general behavior, and physical condition to determine normal versus abnormal characteristics and initiate emergency procedures when indicated.
- Plan and implement individualized patient care based on observations, including appropriate reporting, referrals, and care in accordance with standardized procedures while caring for special populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Identify patient readiness for learning and ability to follow directions, give consent, and assess safety concerns related to age and developmental considerations.
- Demonstrate knowledge and the ability to identify and make special adjustments as required to the needs of specific populations, including cultural, spiritual, age, psychosocial, communication, gender, sexual orientation, economic, educational, family, and condition needs.
- Intervene to provide a safe environment and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions for patients.
