Position: Urgent Hire - Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Home Health

We are looking for an Assistant DON that can lead our clinical staff to deliver the best possible care.

The Assistant DON will assist the DON with the overall supervision and direction of health care services. The Assistant DON shares responsibilities with the DON and Administrator for the Agency’s overall compliance with State and Federal guidelines and standards of nursing practice.

Qualifications
  • A registered nurse with an associate’s degree or higher degree in nursing or other health related field
  • Must have at least one year of clinical experience obtained within the last 36 months
  • A registered nurse with an associates degree or higher degree in nursing or other health related field with three years of experience within the last five years in a home health agency, primary care clinic or health facility, at least one year of which was in a supervisory or administrative capacity; OR
  • A registered nurse with four years experience within the last five years in a home health agency, primary care clinic or health facility, at least one year of which was in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
  • Able to travel to prospective patient’s place of residence
  • Must be able to lift and transfer patients using proper body mechanics
  • Ability to demonstrate communication, presentation, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
Your Day to Day Activities

The primary role of the Assistant DON is to oversee patient care across the organization. This includes assisting the DON with:

  • Lead agency through audits by local, State and Federal government
  • Train clinicians virtually and on the field
  • Promote, review, and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of patient care practices
  • Revise nursing care plan for appropriateness and application of physician’s plan of care
  • Review patient care through on-going communication with nursing staff & case mangers
  • Review on-going evaluation of performance of home health care personnel
  • Review and act to resolve complaints made by patients/families regarding care provided relating to services, personnel, or policies
  • Participate in assigning personnel to patients based on patient need and physician’s plan of care
  • Coordinate and ensure that the patient is well serviced through the assignment of skilled services and personal caregivers whose skills and abilities meet their individual needs
  • Evaluate patient for eligibility of home health services level of care and need
  • Coordinate with Billing/Payroll departments to ensure appropriateness and timeliness of departmental activity
  • Provide and oversees initial and ongoing in-service education and training for all nursing and home health aide staff
  • Develop staff by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and ensuring adequate orientation of all staff
  • Assure confidentiality of all patient, physician, and propriety information
  • Ensures that staff performance evaluations, employee counseling, and disciplinary action is conducted in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Reviews Complaints with timely and appropriate resolution and provide action plans, as appropriate
