Position Overview
Supervisor, Advanced Practice Provider – Critical Care (Full Time, 12‑hour rotating shifts).
Location:
Los Angeles, CA. This role reports to the Associate Administrator of Advance Practice Providers and Medical Directors to oversee clinical services, staff supervision, and operational flow across Keck Medical Center, Arcadia Hospital, Verdugo Hills Hospital, and USC Care Clinics.
- Lead clinical teams of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) by hiring, training, evaluating performance, conducting annual reviews, and providing mentorship.
- Schedule and assign daily duties, ensuring staffing aligns with budgeted hours and patient needs.
- Oversee education, orientation, and ongoing professional development of NP and PA staff, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, office support staff, clinical nurse specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Model compassion, problem‑solving, and conflict resolution skills to support patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in departmental and organizational initiatives, including quality improvement, cost‑effectiveness evaluations, and policy updates.
- Identify and pursue data collection for quality indicators, participating in continuous improvement projects.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and professional standards, including facility policies and the California Board of Registered Nursing requirements.
- Develop and implement clinical collaborative practice agreements and unit‑based quality improvement programs.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record, ensuring timeliness and completeness.
- Keep licensure, credentials, and certifications current; facilitate timely renewal as required.
- Conduct patient assessments, formulate diagnoses, and develop individualized Plans of Care.
- Provide daily updates to Plans of Care based on patient outcomes and evaluations.
- Delegate tasks appropriately, ensuring congruence with scope of practice and competency.
- Advocate for patients, delivering education and ensuring timely communication with the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with Case Managers and social workers to address social needs of the patient population.
- Utilize patient care equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform all duties as assigned; participate enthusiastically in unit activities, process improvement efforts, and peer education.
- Master’s degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner or graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Five years of experience as an NP or PA.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Critical and strategic thinking, analytical and planning abilities.
- Lead or supervisory experience.
- Experience in a clinical specialty area.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in California (exceptions noted for PA).
- NP license (if applicable) and board certification in an accredited specialty or equivalency for PA.
- DEA certificate for controlled substances, BLS, and ACLS (as required for NP in acute‑care settings).
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) if applicable.
