Position: Registered Nurse - Endoscopy - Full Time Day

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care and collaborates with patients, family, peers, physicians, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver comprehensive nursing services. The RN assesses patient needs, plans, implements, and evaluates care plans, demonstrating leadership, professional accountability, and growth.

Essential Functions
  • Understand and adhere to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
  • Provide respectful, patient‑centered care that promotes mutual respect, shared decision‑making, and informed consent while honoring patient autonomy and dignity regardless of protected characteristics.
  • Deliver respectful birthing care in Labor & Delivery and support units.
  • Manage NICU infants requiring inter‑facility transport, using the nursing process to address biophysical, psychosocial, educational, safety/environmental, and discharge needs.
  • Apply the nursing process to prioritize care and unit‑based issues, taking appropriate actions.
  • Administer blood and blood products according to policy.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Integrate patient rights and nursing ethics into daily practice.
  • Maintain infection control standards to reduce patient and staff risk of nosocomial infections.
  • Adhere to Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Delegate ancillary staff activities in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Follow the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics & Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Support, promote, and practice within the WPH Professional Nursing Practice Model and advance the Magnet model.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Complete competency requirements, mandatory in‑services, and staff meetings as required.
  • Utilize cost‑containment practices and assume Charge Nurse responsibilities when directed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • BSN required; MSN with less than one year of practice acceptable.
  • Prior patient experience preferred; 1–3 years preferred; at least one year of acute‑care nursing experience for non‑medical‑surgical areas required.
  • Knowledge of current nursing, medical, and health trends and practices (medium proficiency).
  • Assessment skills, sound problem‑solving, judgment, and decision‑making; ability to adapt in high‑stress, fast‑paced environments.
  • Ability to detect and respond to emergency sounds/signals at all times and to operate computer, equipment, and other devices consistently for extended periods.
  • Must hold BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (American Heart Association).
  • Must hold ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (American Heart Association) for all new RNs (except NICU & OR) within the first year.
  • Required PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification for RNs working in PACU, 5I Pediatrics, ER, Armonk Urgent Care, and ambulatory surgery within 180 days of hire.
  • Required NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification for RNs in Labor & Delivery, Mother‑Baby, and NICU units within 180 days. RNs in NICU, L&D, and Mother‑Baby must obtain NRP within six months.
  • All registered nurses providing direct oncology care must hold a current cancer‑specific certification or complete 36 oncology‑related continuing education hours every three years within one year.
  • Registered nurses in the Emergency Department must complete de‑escalation training within one year of hire before transfer to the Emergency Department.
