Nursing Simulation / Skills Faculty, Assistant Professor, Full-time
The Department of Nursing is seeking a full-time assistant professor to serve as Simulation Educator across the nursing programs. This position includes teaching and participation in department and university governance. This position has a 21 unit teaching load with approximately 16 units assigned to simulation/skills and 5 units assigned to theory or clinical courses. Duties include but are not limited to course lecturing and/or skills laboratory instruction;
Sim coordination;
Scheduling;
Technical operations of scenarios;
Technical staff orientation and training;
Simulation research;
Liaison between departments. This is a non-tenure-track faculty appointment (fall and spring semester) with a one-month summer assignment (10-month total appointment).
Mount Saint Mary's University is home to the oldest Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program in the State of California. Position Annual Hiring Salary Range: $89,750.00 - $93,300.00
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
Requirements:- An earned master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- A clear and current California Registered Nurse license.
- California BRN approved to teach med/surg or eligible for approval.
- Two years of full-time experience in client care within the past 5 years.
- Familiarity with INACSL Standards of Best Practice and BRN simulation regulations.
- Ability to design, implement, and evaluate simulation scenarios and skills assessments.
- Flexibility in hours worked.
- Commitment to the university mission and the nursing department's philosophy.
- A proven track record of excellent teamwork, organization, and leadership skills.
Preferred:
- One-year clinical teaching experience.
- Experience with high-fidelity manikins (Laerdal).
- Experience with Learning Space AV platform.
- Experience in curriculum development and competency-based education.
- Experience training or supervising adjunct faculty.
