Job Title:

Health & Safety Specialist - 2nd Shift

Location:

Whittier, CA

Division:

Michael Kors

Reporting to:

Safety Manager, North America Distribution Operations

Who You Are:

As a Health & Safety Specialist, you will support the day-to-day execution of EHS programs within our fast-paced distribution operations. You will partner with employees and leaders across Operations, Human Resources, Facilities, Engineering, and Safety & Security to identify risks, investigate incidents, deliver training, and implement practical solutions.

This is an opportunity for an early-career EHS professional to build broad, hands-on experience while serving as a visible safety resource for our 2nd-shift workforce. Fluency in English and Spanish is required to deliver training, conduct investigations, communicate safety expectations, and support EHS materials in both languages.

What You'll Do:
  • Serve as the primary EHS resource for 2nd-shift operations, engaging employees and leaders to identify hazards, address concerns, and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Conduct safety inspections, observations, and risk assessments involving material handling, powered industrial trucks, ergonomics, equipment, and work spaces.
  • Support EHS programs and procedures in accordance with Cal/OSHA and company requirements, including seasonal initiatives such as indoor heat illness prevention and heat monitoring.
  • Deliver safety training in English and Spanish and develop safety communications, toolbox topics, Health & Safety board content, and other employee resources.
  • Investigate injuries, near misses, and safety events; conduct interviews, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Support programs including PIT safety, ergonomics, fall protection, machine guarding, PPE, Hazard Communication, emergency preparedness, industrial hygiene, and environmental compliance.
  • Support and help lead employee engagement initiatives, including Safety Committee activities, safety campaigns, recognition programs, and health and wellness events.
  • Conduct audits, support JHAs/JSAs and safe work procedures, track corrective actions to completion, and analyze EHS data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with Operations, Facilities, Engineering, HR, and Safety & Security on site initiatives, risk reduction, and continuous improvement.
You’ll Need to Have:
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, including effective verbal and written communication.
  • Relevant EHS exposure through an internship, academic program, prior employment, operations role, or similar experience preferred; recent graduates and early-career candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • General understanding of workplace safety principles and interest in developing knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA requirements.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organization, and follow-through skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work on-site in Whittier five days per week on 2nd shift beginning at 2:30 PM, with occasional flexibility for weekends or holidays.
We’d Love to See:
  • Bachelor's degree completed or in progress in Environmental & Occupational Health or a related discipline.
  • EHS internship or early-career experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or another operational environment.
  • OSHA 10-Hour/30-Hour or First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Experience with safety training, inspections, investigations, risk assessments, or safety data.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a genuine interest in developing as an EHS professional.
