Overview

Johnson Service Group, a nationwide staffing company, is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Quality to lead the quality function for our Circuits and Aerospace operations in Chatsworth, CA. This leader will oversee the implementation and continual improvement of quality management systems in both Aerospace and Circuits manufacturing, ensuring compliance with ISO, IPC, AS9100, and customer‑specific standards. The role combines leadership in quality operations, statistical analysis, and process improvement with technical knowledge of PCB fabrication and assembly.

This is a direct job for an electronics company. Salary Range: $120k - $160k DOE. Job Type: Full‑Time.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday 7:00am – 4:00pm, with other hours as needed.

This is a hands‑on leadership role that requires active participation in quality activities, direct support of quality engineers and inspectors, and close collaboration with Operations, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to drive product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the Quality organization across PCB and Aerospace manufacturing operations.
  • Oversee quality assurance, final inspection, cross‑section lab, and quality engineering functions.
  • Actively participate in daily quality activities, including inspections, investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action efforts.
  • Support and develop quality engineers, inspectors, and technical staff through coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, IPC standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action processes, nonconformance resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, and Manufacturing to resolve quality issues and improve product performance.
  • Monitor quality metrics, analyze trends, and implement actions to improve yield, reduce defects, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Support internal and external audits, customer audits, and regulatory or certification assessments.
  • Maintain strong systems for documentation control, calibration, inspection planning, and quality records management.
  • Drive a proactive quality culture focused on prevention, ownership, and operational excellence.
  • Serve as a key leader in customer issue resolution and escalation management.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent experience.
    • 10+ years of progressive quality experience in manufacturing, with leadership experience in PCB and/or aerospace environments.
    • Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, IPC‑A‑600, IPC‑A‑610, and related quality standards.
    • Proven success leading cross‑functional quality teams in a hands‑on manufacturing environment.
    • Deep experience with root‑cause analysis, corrective action, audits, and continuous improvement.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
    • Ability to balance strategic leadership with direct technical involvement.
    • Experience working in high‑reliability, regulated manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
    Preferred Skills
    • Strong working knowledge of PCB fabrication and aerospace electrical/mechanical assembly processes.
    • Experience leading quality systems in a dual‑site or multi‑discipline manufacturing operation.
    • Demonstrated ability to build team capability and strengthen quality culture.
    • Strong customer‑facing skills and the ability to represent quality at a leadership level.
    Physical Requirements

    Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally and 15 lbs regularly. Comfortable working with tools that vibrate (e.g., grinders, drills). Willingness to work with chemicals (e.g., solder, resin) and fine debris from cutting/sanding tasks.
