Reports to: Senior Associate, Community Land & Real Estate

Organization Overview

Inclusive Action for the City is a non‑profit, Community Development Financial Institution whose mission is to bring people together to build strong, local economies that uplift low‑income urban communities through advocacy and transformative economic development initiatives. Founded in 2008, the organization employs a multidisciplinary approach to its work, creating spaces for new ideas, compiling research, supporting local entrepreneurs and leaders, and helping other organizations implement their innovations.

Position Overview

Inclusive Action envisions vibrant, resilient commercial corridors where small businesses, cultural anchors, and community organizations own, shape, and sustain their neighborhoods. We are seeking a Real Estate Associate to manage projects that advance our real estate strategy and vision and contribute to our Real Estate Team.

Inclusive Action believes our communities belong to the people. We pilot innovative approaches – through research, partnerships, advocacy, and programs – to fight gentrification, and keep land off the market and in community hands. Our goal is for land in our communities to be owned by residents, small business owners, and community organizations and used for what the community needs.

The Real Estate Associate is responsible for direct coordination, mobilization, and relationship‑building with commercial and residential tenants, as well as community‑based partners that are aligned with Inclusive Action’s mission of building strong local economies and achieving economic justice. The Associate will also be responsible for coordination with a third‑party property management company to manage operations across Inclusive Action’s properties and they will coordinate the vacant unit lease‑up process, in collaboration with partners and staff.

The Associate will support various real estate projects and complete due diligence investigations and feasibility studies, as needed. This position will be responsible for creating strong relationships with current tenants, supporting the creation of a pipeline of future values‑aligned tenants for our commercial properties, property management oversight, and administrative support for our real estate portfolio. See detailed description of responsibilities below.

This position will report to the Senior Associate, Community Land and Real Estate.

The Real Estate Associate is passionate about real estate, community ownership, anti‑displacement and Los Angeles. They are infinitely curious, self‑directed, and interested in producing and coordinating excellent power‑building efforts in service of the communities Inclusive Action is dedicated to. They recognize the urgency of economic justice work and are interested in disrupting the “status quo” approaches to revitalizing neighborhoods.
