The Commercial Appraisal & Valuations Specialist is primarily responsible for the full life cycle management of the commercial valuation process. This includes order origination (in coordination with valuation coordinator staff) and in-depth review of commercial appraisals in support of lending activities across most major US metropolitan areas, with a focus on multifamily construction and residential subdivision/tract development property types. This position requires a high degree of competency in the review of complex/high risk property types, including an in-depth understanding of valuation risk management best practices and familiarity with lending and credit risk processes.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS
  • Help perform market research and risk analysis of commercial real estate at the loan preflight stage.
  • Analyze loan and property information to determine appropriate valuation scope of work.
  • Review exhibits and supporting materials to assess the adequacy of information in support of valuation assignments in the context of the credit action. Follow-up on information requests as needed with lending and support staff.
  • Monitor appraisal orders to ensure on-time delivery, as well as follow-up on new exhibits and/or scope of work revisions with appraisers and lending staff.
  • Perform USPAP compliant commercial appraisal reviews in support of lending and loan monitoring activities, including meaningful risk analysis of the collateral property and market area.
  • Support the approved appraiser vendor management process, including the identification of talent and proactive effort to foster good working relationships with approved appraisers to ensure exceptional service and quality.
  • Support a positive and collaborative working environment, with flexibility and willingness to participate in process improvements and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Elevate issues or concerns in a timely manner to department management.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related area strongly preferred.
  • Hold an active Certified General Real Estate Appraiser License.
  • Possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant commercial appraisal experience, with at least 2 years of valuation experience within a banking-related industry.
  • Valuation experience must include multifamily construction and residential subdivision/tract development property types.
  • Must be a highly organized individual with the ability to multi-task, work successfully under pressure, and effectively manage time and workload.
  • Have experience in working with appraisal management systems.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A true self-starter capable of accomplishing complicated tasks with limited supervision.
