Position: Staff Research Associate II - Urology

Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a full-time Staff Research Associate II (SRA II) to join a cutting-edge benign Urology research laboratory engaged in translational surgical device design. Under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator, the SRA II will contribute to ongoing research into the role of bacteria and biofilms in the formation and pathogenesis of kidney stones.

In this role, you will perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures at a fully operational level, including but not limited to, use of human specimens, cell and tissue culture, bacterial culture, DNA/RNA/genomic DNA extraction, and fluorescent microscopy. You will also take on a significant portion of the lab management duties, including supply management, ordering, and equipment maintenance and calibration.

Additionally, you will coordinate and assist with general lab support activities (e.g., making common lab reagents). The SRA II will have some supervisory responsibilities as the day-to-day manager of the undergraduate students and other part-time members of the lab.

Hourly Salary Range: $30.32 - $48.78. Please note, the department’s target salary for this role is $30.32/hour.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Reading skills sufficient to understand specific protocol relevant journal articles, and equipment
  • Skill in routine molecular and cellular biology techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on a one-to-one basis sufficiently to convey experimental results to principal investigators.
  • Writing skills sufficient to compose laboratory protocols which are clear, concise, logical and display proper syntax and grammar.
  • Interpersonal skill to interact and collaborate effectively with scientist co-workers, graduate students and faculty.
  • Skill in handling and disposing of contaminated material according to protocol.
  • Ability to organize raw data into relevant formats.
