Scientific Director, Center Research in Women-s Health Science; CREWHS

Overview

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is seeking a Scientific Director, Center for Research in Women’s Health Science (CREWHS). This position will mentor junior multidisciplinary researchers in women’s health or sex differences research, with goals of producing publications and obtaining additional grant funding. The director will manage CREWHS annual RFA process including evaluation and selection for research grants from CREWHS. The director will also continue their own research, manage their research team and retain funding.

The mission of CREWHS is to improve the health and care of women through all life stages by fostering innovation in research, clinical care, education, and policy. CREWHS seeks to expand multidisciplinary women’s health and sex differences research across Cedars-Sinai and translate this knowledge into better outcomes for women in prevention, recognition, management, psychosocial aspects of disease, and disparities in outcomes.

CREWHS aims to facilitate multidisciplinary sex-based research by:

• Providing seed funding to junior investigators whose research focuses on areas that result in meaningful improvement in care and outcomes for women.
• Promoting interactions between clinical, basic and translational scientists across all disciplines through seminars and workshops.
• Providing education and training to support the next generation of leaders in women’s health research.
• Funding very junior internships to promote early interest in women’s health science.
• Creating a public awareness campaign to address the knowledge gap about women’s health.

CREWHS is led by a multidisciplinary steering committee with 11 members representing seven departments. The Co-directors of the steering committee are Drs. Sarah Kilpatrick and Noel Bairey Merz. In the last four years CREWHS, after a competitive RFA process, has given out 17 research grants leading to 4 new R01s and multiple publications.

Pay Range: $71,000 - $260,000 Base Compensation. We offer competitive total compensation including pay, benefits, and other incentive programs. This base pay range does not include our comprehensive benefits package or any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role.
