Role Overview

The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences is seeking a dependable, flexible, detail-oriented Research Coordinator II to join a research team at the University of Southern California. The Research Coordinator will support the implementation and day-to-day operations of several NIH-funded research grants.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate study activities across multiple projects.
  • Maintain communication with study participants and schedule research visits.
  • Assist with participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, and retention.
  • Conduct interviews and administer questionnaires.
  • Collect and process study data and biological specimens, as applicable.
  • Enter and manage data in research databases.
  • Ensure compliance with study protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide overall project support to research staff and faculty investigators.
Qualifications
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Problem‑solving skills, professionalism, and effective communication with diverse participant populations and research team members.
  • Prior experience in a research environment preferred.
  • Minimum education:

    Bachelor’s degree in a health-related or social science field.
  • Minimum experience:

    2 years of administrative or research experience.
  • Knowledge of medical environment and terminology; federal, state and institutional research regulations;
    Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and HIPAA regulations.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications; effective communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Preferred experience:

    3 years in research; staff education and orientation.
  • Preferred skills:
    Knowledge of Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems and Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS).
Compensation

Hourly rate range: $36.90 - $41.03.

Benefits

Flexible working hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, may be required depending on study needs.
