About the Institute
The USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute and Center for Integrative Connectomics (CIC, (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) are world leaders in the development of advanced computational and scientific approaches for the comprehensive mapping of brain structure and function. The CIC’s unique multidisciplinary environment and cutting-edge resources allow for integration of spatial transcriptomics and connectomics datasets for research questions focused on neuronal cell type vulnerability in neurobiological disease.
The CIC is located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles and is a leading private research university.
We are recruiting a talented full-time Research Engineer to help with various projects on the computational analysis of high resolution 3D microscopy datasets. Under the supervision of the PI, the candidate will assist with data processing, analyzing the data, applying machine learning/AI for image pipeline development, data visualization for interpretability of the models, and submit abstracts and papers to conferences and journal publications.
The candidate will also design, develop and test materials and prototypes for research projects, investigate the feasibility of applying specific scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and projects, analyze and present data as appropriate, make decisions to further the goals of the experiment, provide thorough documentation of methods publicly on Git Hub, and train coworkers in the methodologies.
- Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering/Computer Science/Neuroimaging
- Strong understanding of machine learning, deep learning for biomedical imaging, computer vision, AI and integration of neuronal morphology methods, statistics and image analysis
- Experience working with large-scale neuroimaging and genetics data
- Proficiency in oral and written communication as determined by contributions to scientific conferences and related presentations
- Experience in designing, developing and maintaining pipelines/tools using machine learning and deep learning for neuroimaging applications
- Knowledge about data visualization and various data analytics tools and libraries

The annual base salary range for this position is $92,211.99 - $95,000.
