Department Summary
The UCLA Center for Labor Research and Education, Downtown Labor Center conducts research on issues related to labor and employment. The Labor Center's research, policy and educational initiatives serve to inform a diverse group of stakeholders: workers, community organizers, policy makers, educators, labor leaders, students, and elected officials. The Labor Center carries out research on topics such as labor and workplace conditions, and works with community-based organizations, unions, government, policy institutes and employers to develop innovative policy perspectives and programs.
It also provides an important source of research and information on worker centers, unions and the changing workforce for students, scholars, policymakers and the public.

Working under the direction of the direct supervisor, the Project and Policy Analyst 2 will prioritize workflow and will follow through on assignments with minimal direction. Team meetings and frequent interaction with direct course and pace of work. The Senior Research Analyst (SRA) position will lead climate projects at the UCLA Labor Center. The SRA will manage projects and collaborate on all aspects of the research process, including the research design, workplan, methodology and instrument development, data collection procedures, analysis, and reporting.
The SRA is expected to review professional literature in the field as needed and report on findings related to topics of interest, including best practices. The SRA will also collaborate with external partners and expand the Labor Center's research capacity through staff training. We are looking for an SRA with a strong commitment to research justice.

- 5-7 years Related research experience participating in large research projects in a field relevant to labor and low-wage work. (Required)
- 5-7 years Data Analysis, economic development, public policy, urban planning, labor studies/labor relations, or law; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)

- Experience with multiple research and evaluation methods, including strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, cultural and racial equity program evaluation design, participatory data collection methods, and knowledge of Dedoose, SPSS or other software programs and their implementation. - Organizational skills to a) work independently with minimal supervision, b) determine workload priorities and tasks to complete work in a timely manner, and c) identify and resolve problems. Knowledge of California workforce development programs, labor movement, and social justice organizations. (Required)
