Research Data Analyst

Join a research team at UCLA in Los Angeles, CA as a Research Data Analyst 1 (Full Time, Fully Onsite). This role supports ongoing studies by combining bioinformatics analysis, next-generation sequencing (NGS) quality control, and statistical evaluation of molecular data. Work under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) and senior laboratory personnel while contributing to well-maintained clinical and specimen datasets using tools like REDCap
.

Pay: $33.09 - $35.09 hourly (anticipated hiring pay scale), with a full salary range of $33.09/hr - $65.77/hr for this position.

Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

• Assist with bioinformatics analysis of virome sequencing data
• Perform statistical analyses supporting research findings
• Organize and maintain patient and molecular databases
• Manage and analyze next-generation sequencing (NGS) data
• Conduct quality control procedures for sequencing datasets
• Align virome sequencing results to virome reference databases
• Maintain associated clinical and specimen metadata through REDCap and public repositories
• Maintain accurate research records for ongoing projects
• Contribute to NGS and PCR data analyses
• Provide data management and analytical support for active research work

• Demonstrated computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft applications (Required)
• Ability and desire to work as part of a team and to work without technical supervision (Required)
• Ability to create and maintain records accurately (Required)
• Ability to communicate effectively to convey experimental results, with prior experience in a research environment (Required)
• Experience with basic bioinformatic analysis (DNA/RNA sequencing) (Required)
• Experience with bioinformatic frameworks including R and Python (Required)
• Ability to perform statistical analyses of molecular data (Required)
• Expertise in sequence and metadata organization (Required)

• Demonstrated knowledge of genetics
  , molecular biology
  , and biochemical principles (Preferred)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences
  , Biostatistics
  , or equivalent (Preferred)
