In this role, you will perform a variety of duties in cleaning and sanitation at the UCLA West Valley Medical Center's Nutrition Department. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping and waxing floors; washing walls, doors, windows, light fixtures, discarding trash in waste bins; cleaning, sanitizing and relining all trash containers and linen hampers; washing and steaming rubber floor mats; cleaning and proper storage of housekeeping equipment and reporting all equipment malfunctions to supervisor on duty;

washing dishes, pans, utensils and small equipment according to established procedures; adhering to prescribed safety and sanitation practices and procedures; other related tasks may be assigned as needed.

• Ability to read and write, follow oral and written instructions in English language.
• Ability to work in standing position for a long period of time, stretch, stoop, bend, climb, and reach repetitively.
• Ability to work in hot, cold and/or wet areas; lift 40 lbs and push/pull 350 lbs.
• Knowledge in the use, disposal, and labeling of chemicals used in a food service setting.
• Ability to conform to dress code and work in a non-smoking environment.
• Ability to practice safe food handling techniques.
• Ability to adjust to fluctuating work load and work schedule.
• Interpersonal skills and interact effectively with co-workers, customers, asst. managers and managers.
