Job SummaryThe role will drive gross-to-net capabilities for the organization and focus on the pharmaceutical industry functional expertise. The role will be responsible for the communication of gross-to- net information with an emphasis on "value- added" metrics for management. Gross-to-net includes accrual rate analysis; rate set-up; account analysis; reconciliations; look-back analysis; and other analysis and reporting as needed. All work must be completed timely and accurately in accordance with IFRS and internal reporting requirements.
This role is responsible for ensuring that the Company’s contracting systems are efficient, effective, and maximize return on rebate/discounts invested. The individual in this role will lead the development of enhanced reporting and analytics for Managed Markets and will be responsible for ensuring department standard operating procedures are current and in compliance with corporate policies.
- Ensure gross-to-net policies and procedures are current and relevant. Ensure the team adheres to the established policies and procedures.
- Understand the various tools (CARS, SAP, BO, BI, etc) available to the businesses. Ensure team utilizes appropriate tools to develop accrual rates and analyze data/transactions. Ensure new accrual rates are appropriately loaded in SAP
- Review accruals on monthly basis for reasonableness and accuracy or changes that may have happened during the month.
- Review account reconciliations, ensuring they were prepared according to company policy.
- Review look-back analysis comparing actual payments made to the balance sheet accrual. Ensure manual true-up JEs, if required are accurate and entered timely.
- Understand contract / pricing practices / models and key contracts for each business unit
- Lead discussions with Business leaders and management to review accrual rates, account analysis, reconciliations and look-back analyses. Ensure unusual items, judgment calls and any other non-routine events impacting gross-to-net accounting are discussed with the department head throughout the month.
- Identify gross to net strategic initiatives to make improvements in systems, process, and internal controls with a focus on efficiency, timeliness and accuracy. Work with IS / others to make improvements. Use project management and system/data testing skills to successfully implement improvements.
- Position is responsible for accruals related over $300M of actual payments annually for the following: chargebacks, wholesaler differentials, rebates, fees, prompt pay discounts and government rebates.
- Manage and develop team members.
- Candidate with 10+ years of experience; with minimum 5+ years of experience working in a pharmaceutical company & 3-5+ years of Gross To Net experience (Advance)
- Ability to analyze revenue and deduction drivers
- Ability to build and maintain financial models
- Understanding of drivers / events affecting the pharma industry
- Staying up to date on best practices in GTN modeling / forecasting
- Prior experience analyzing pharma profit & loss statements
