Through its printed publications (LABJ weekly edition and Inside The Valley magazine), robust digital assets, and targeted business events (both digital and in‑person) throughout the year, the Business Journal provides invaluable information and access to C‑Suite executives throughout the region.
Role& Responsibilities:
- Work with advertising agencies on the execution of national marketing campaigns, including print, digital and event sponsorship opportunities.
- Establish close relationships with advertisers.
- Create meaningful proposals, execute Agency RFPs, and create PowerPoint decks to support those RFPs.
- Negotiate and implement ideas for client consideration.
- Provide updates and solutions to clients.
- Be able to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Build relationships with CMO’s, Corporate Communication Departments, Communications Officers and C‑Suite decision‑makers for national campaigns looking to support local markets.
- Utilize the WINMO national database to prospect and find marketing leads for national companies and agencies
- In addition to increasing business with established accounts within an existing book of business, the ideal candidate must be eager to meet with prospective clients and agencies to present and close new business.
- Daily responsibilities include prospecting new advertisers, and business executives to make sales presentations (in‑person and over mediums such as Zoom), writing sales proposals, account management of clients, and networking at various business events.
- Drive revenue through a consultative sales approach by creating value and partnerships with the business community.
- Work with accounting on the collection of late payments from clients.
- This position reports to the office daily (unless out on sales calls). This position DOES NOT offer work‑from‑home opportunities as it is dependent on being a part of a team and collaboration.

· College degree (Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Journalism is a plus but not required).
· Media sales experience is required.
· Knowledge of digital advertising is required.
· National sales experience is preferred.
· Experience working with professional service firms is preferred.
· Strong interpersonal communication, computer and writing skills.
· Strong sense of priority, ability to shift to different projects and manage time effectively.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the flexibility to work on both team‑based projects as well as independent projects.
· Familiar with CRM software, MS Office and excel.
· Assess and analyze digital assets and send reports to clients and agencies.
· Candidate must possess a valid CA driver’s license and insurance.
Compensation:This position is responsible for maintaining an established book of clientele and growing new business. Compensation consists of a modest base salary plus earned commissions. Benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, PTO, FSA and 401k (no match).
Total Annual Compensation Package:$100,000 - $150,000 per year
