Reporting to the Regional Sales Director, the Sales Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing a retail sales and food services business in the Western USA.
Major Responsibilities- Sales & Marketing
Researches and develops an annual sales plan in concert with the North American marketing team, develops sales strategies and long term marketing plans.
Creates customer‑specific retail sales and food service business plans and budgets, ensuring alignment with objectives.
Contributes to promotional and sales communication materials for the region.
Works with procurement to review and confirm inventory replenishment orders.
- Customer & Distribution Relationship Management
Maintains profitable relationships with major retail and food service customers.
Identifies prospective customers, develops relationships, maintains continuous contact.
Maintains market intelligence to safeguard financial and volume interests.
Communicates distribution channels with logistics to ensure timely deliveries.
Maintains proper inventory levels in regional storage centers.
Communicates with major suppliers to stay ahead of competition.
- Performance Effectiveness
Achieves all financial, customer, product, and business goals in the Western USA.
Monitors accounts receivables, reduces bad debts, improves cash flow.
Prepares monthly territory reports.
Prepares professional development plans with the Regional Sales Director.
Identifies business growth opportunities and executes new product opportunities.
Represents company in pursuing opportunities.
- Success Measures
Achieves all retail and food service brands and sales, market share, volume, revenue, profit, and accounts receivable objectives.
Ensures successful delivery of products while meeting inventory targets.
- 5+ years of experience in regional retail and food services sales in a sizeable North American or Global Food Services Industry manufacturer and distributor.
- Prior experience in retail protein sales with major retailers and major food service wholesalers.
- Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Thorough understanding of retail and food services business, sales budgets, marketing strategies.
- Ability to create promotional campaigns across all media and platforms.
- Understanding of case‑ready retail‑ready meat processing systems.
- Fluency in English.
- Demonstrated skills in sales planning and execution, commercial acumen, contract negotiation.
- Track record of securing supply to meet customer needs.
- Professionalism, credibility, tenacity, alignment with company goals.
- Ability to handle high stress, time and travel demands.
- Strong Excel skills, presentation and ERP software knowledge.
