Research Scientist
As the Academic Genomics Field Application Scientist, you'll serve as a trusted scientific partner and key liaison between Bio-Rad and our academic research customers across the U.S. Southwest region. In this role, your days will be spent supporting researchers both before and after the sale-delivering hands-on training, scientific guidance, and application expertise across our genomics portfolio, including qPCR, ddPCR, and single-cell sequencing solutions.
You'll collaborate closely with Field Sales Representatives while working directly with customers in labs, classrooms, and seminar settings. Your work will include leading technical trainings, product demonstrations, and seminars tailored to audiences with varying levels of technical experience. This role blends scientific expertise, customer engagement, and real-world lab work-offering the opportunity to directly impact academic research while representing Bio-Rad as a subject-matter expert in genomics technologies.
You'll Make An Impact
- Contribute to our mission statement of "Expert Partnership" by teaching customers how to incorporate Bio-Rad's genomics technologies into their workflows and promote their success.
- Support Field Sales Representatives in achieving yearly sales targets.
- Aid customers in data analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization for Bio-Rad's genomics technologies.
- Advise customers in experimental design, data analysis and reporting of results.
- Bring your expertise to the Field Application Scientist team through strategic projects and internal collaboration.
- Education:
MS in Life Sciences minimum, PhD preferred. - Work Experience:
5+ years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience must include qPCR techniques, and qPCR assay design and optimization. - Experience with different qPCR instruments is a plus. Digital PCR, sequencing, and related molecular biology techniques and practices also a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of supported instruments and various applications.
- Strong verbal (oral and written) and presentation skills required. A combination of expert troubleshooting and interpersonal skills are the keys to success in this position.
- Experience training others.
- Sales skills to help support field sales representatives.
- Ability to work remotely in assigned territory.
Location: This position covers the California region. The individual must live within a geography that allows them to visit customers on-site on a daily basis.

CompensationThe estimated base salary range for this position is $96,600 to $132,900 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is also eligible for quarterly commission based on assigned sales quotas.
