As an Unarmed Security Officer, you will be part of a security team that supports critical facilities and infrastructure, public venues requiring an enhanced presence, and asset protection services. This position is an integral part of Inter-Con’s broad security services for clients.
Responsibilities- Safeguard property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry
- Enforce company rules, policies, and procedures; assist with safety of employees, visitors, volunteers and the public
- Greet and direct visitors, escort guests, answer questions, monitor parking lots; detect and prevent harm to persons or property
- Assist in maintaining order and security; report violations to contract manager
- Visually inspect displays; complete check sheets and alert supervision of irregularities
- Control access of visitors; monitor alarms/TV systems; maintain logs and reports; dispatch radio calls; answer phones
- Patrol grounds; lock/unlock doors and gates; manage lighting
- Respond to emergencies and notify appropriate staff or outside agencies
- Take reports and coordinate with authorities
- Open/close doors, vaults, gates; manage lighting and security of premises
- Restrict access to closed or restricted areas; detain unauthorized individuals as needed
- Monitor alarm systems and surveillance equipment
- Report hazardous conditions and needed repairs promptly
- Enforce package inspections and document contents to prevent contraband
- Able to carry out job requirements; operate radios and maintain communications
- Good judgment and discretion with the public; effective English communication
- Courteous, professional demeanor
- At least 18 years old; pass background investigation; no disqualifying criminal convictions
- Successfully complete California security training for guards; maintain valid licenses/certifications
- Uniforms required; professional appearance per policy
- Avoid unprofessional conduct; stay at post unless properly relieved
- Working knowledge of pertinent California Penal Code sections (e.g., power of arrest) as trained by the company
- Valid California Driver License or state
- California Guard Registration Card; BSSI certification; CPR and First Aid certificates
- Good physical condition; able to stand at a post for eight hours if required
- Sound physical and emotional condition to perform duties
