Overview

Outcome School empowers underrepresented young people of color by equipping them with high-quality training in technology and entrepreneurship. Outcome School creates builders of bridges and ecosystems, not just resumes and products. This isn’t just education, it’s empowerment with a pulse.

Outcome School empowers underrepresented young people of color to become innovators, problem-solvers, and community builders by providing high-quality training in technology and entrepreneurship. Its legacy will be measured not by graduates alone, but by the ripple effect they create in launching ventures, driving inclusion in tech sectors, and reshaping systems that once excluded them.

Outcome School is a mission‑driven nonprofit empowering youth with the technical, analytical, and leadership skills needed to thrive in the digital world. Our Cybersecurity Engineering track introduces students to ethical hacking, Python for security, networking fundamentals, and defensive security practices. To expand this program, we’re seeking a passionate Cybersecurity Engineering Volunteer to help design curriculum, create course materials, and mentor students as they build cybersecurity MVPs and final portfolio‑ready products.

About

the Role

As a Cybersecurity Engineering volunteer, you will guide students through the foundations of modern cybersecurity — from understanding networks to writing Python scripts for security automation. You’ll design beginner‑friendly curriculum, create slides and assignments, and mentor students as they build hands‑on security projects. • Create course materials, including slides, assignments, labs, and project templates.
  • Teach or support live sessions with demonstrations, walkthroughs, and Q&A.
  • Mentor students as they build cybersecurity MVPs (Week
    6) and final products (Week 12).
  • Introduce students to core cybersecurity concepts, including
  • ethical hacking fundamentals
  • Python for security automation
  • networking & packet analysis
  • reconnaissance & enumeration basics
  • authentication, MFA, and least privilege
  • secure system configuration
  • responsible and ethical security practices
  • Provide feedback on student projects, code, documentation, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to ensure curriculum quality and consistency.
  • Support students during Demo Day, helping them present their security tools and findings.
What You Bring
  • Experience in cybersecurity, ethical hacking, SOC operations, or security engineering.
  • Familiarity with Python, Linux, networking, and security tools.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts in simple, engaging ways.
  • A passion for teaching, mentoring, and empowering youth.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • (Bonus) Experience creating curriculum, slides, or technical documentation.
Why Volunteer With Outcome School
  • Make a meaningful impact on youth exploring cybersecurity and digital defense.
  • Build teaching and leadership experience in a supportive environment.
